State-owned companies may donate financial resources or property in accordance with the Law On Prevention of Squandering of the Financial Resources and Property of a Public Person. 

According to the Donation Strategy Latvenergo AS donates financial resourcesin the following focus areas:

• education, science, children and youth sports;
• social assistance;
• culture.

Latvenergo Group annually implements projects contributing to development of education and science in energy, raises awareness of engineering professions, promotes training of qualified graduates and supports children and youth sports activities.

To expand cooperation with stakeholders and involve experts from relevant areas in decision-making regarding donations, Latvenergo AS donates the financial funds for the development of education and science, as well as children and youth sports, to the cooperation partners for the organisation of project tenders.

In 2021, Latvenergo AS has started cooperation with new partners for the organisation of project tenders - the foundation "Iespējamā misija" (Mission Possible) and the association "Latvijas Komandu sporta spēļu asociācija" (Team Sports Association of Latvia). The partners have been selected by assessing their experience in the administration of project tenders, their administrative capacity, scope of activity, recognition and reputation, and status of a public benefit organisation.

Promoting the excellence of young people in exact sciences, for several years Latvenergo AS has supported the development of Riga Technical University (RTU) Engineering High School and improvement of the technical equipment of the Latvenergo Creative Laboratory at the RTU Faculty of Electrical and Environmental Engineering, as well as supported the participation of the Latvian team in the International Physics Olympiad.

To expand cooperation with stakeholders and involve experts from relevant areas in the decision-making regarding donations, starting from 2018 Latvenergo AS donates funds in the social field through project tenders administered by the partner organisation. The Foundation “Ziedot.lv Fund” (Ziedot.lv) has been chosen as the cooperation partner based on the Fund’s previous experience, recognition and reputation.

Latvenergo AS provides social support in the following areas:

• Assistance to children and adults with special needs;
• Assistance to socially disadvantaged groups.

To expand cooperation with stakeholders and involve experts from relevant areas in the decision-making regarding donations, Latvenergo AS has been donating funds in the area of culture through a project tender administered by the partner organisation. The State Culture Capital Foundation (SCCF) has been chosen as the cooperation partner of Latvenergo AS in the area of culture. The choice has been made by assessing the organisation’s experience in the administration of project tenders, its administrative capacity, scope of activity, recognition and reputation, and status of a public benefit organisation.
